Miller names Hickey to Taxicab Authority

CARSON CITY -- Former state Sen. Thomas Hickey of North Las Vegas has been named by Gov. Bob Miller to the state Taxicab Authority, which regulates the industry in Clark County.
Hickey, who served in the Assembly from 1973 to 1982 and in the Senate from 1983 to 1994, succeeds Harry Vogel who completed two three-year terms and was not eligible for reappointment.
The governor also reappointed Harley Harmon, a long-time civic figure in Las Vegas, to the state Tax Commission.
