County spending

How the Clark County Commission voted Tuesday to spend tax dollars:

* $3.2 million for 17 parcels of real property needed for the proposed gravel truck haul route alignment that follows the western beltway between Lone Mountain Road and U.S. 95.

* $2.03 million to purchase the Lareina Building, 3827 South Maryland Parkway, and an adjacent eight acres for the development of a Youth/Senior Center and a super substation for the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

* $330,000 to buy two properties at 515 and 517 Shadow Lane for expansion of the county's public administrator, coroner/medical examiner and social services departments.

* $300,194 annually to Southern Nevada Environmental Inc. for the operation of a temporary transfer and holding station for desert tortoises.

* $240,000 to Black & Veatch for designing the Hiko Springs Detention Basin Outfall Channel in Laughlin.

* $195,000 to Kelton Hafen, Eldon Hafen and Gubler Trust to buy the Sand Hollow grazing allotment for desert tortoise habitat.

* $164,924 to McCandless International Trucks for three current production model 4-yard dump trucks.

* $164,700 to XLA Group to retrofit the air handler systems at the county's 309 South Third Street Building, replace exhaust fan controls at the County Courthouse and install flow measuring stations.

* $143,200 to D.C. Vient Inc. for exterior painting of the Clark County Detention Center.

* $103,719 to Helena Chemical Co. to supply the county with herbicides.
