1919 - Cy Denneny of the Ottawa Senators becomes the NHL's all-time scorer with his 52nd goal in a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
1951 - Manhattan District Attorney Frank S. Hogan orders the arrest of three CCNY basketball players on bribery charges and two professional gamblers and two intermediaries in a game-fixing scandal that would later involve college teams across the country.
1981 - Edmonton's Wayne Gretzky scores five goals and two assists, including four goals in the final period, to lead the Oilers to a 9-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
