An 11-year-old child killed during a two-car crash at Russell Road and Lamb Boulevard has been identified as Cody Vesely.
Vesely, of Las Vegas, was one of three passengers inside a 1994 Ford Explorer that was struck by Cheryl L. Reilly, 33, of Las Vegas, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Witnesses told police that Reilly was driving her 1995 Toyota Camry recklessly and at a high rate of speed. She was eastbound on Russell in the left travel lane when she hit the Explorer, driven by Fay Bradford, 46, about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Vesely and Bradford's 11-year-old daughter, Irene, were thrown from the Explorer. Vesely died at the scene, police said.
Reilly, the Bradfords and Julie Koch, also 11, were transported to University Medical Center.
Police said they suspect that Reilly was under the influence of alcohol. Lab results are pending. The accident remains under investigation.
Vesely's death was the 20th traffic fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year, compared to 12 fatal accidents by this time in 1996.
