Woman found in park restroom a murder victim

Her body was found Sunday by two children who were at Wingfield Park with their parents.

Nancy Paolini, director of Project Restart homeless services center, said the woman once was hospitalized at the Nevada Mental Health Institute after outreach workers found her on the streets.

Paolini said the victim recently was released from the institute and no other adequate care facilities were available to treat her.

"It's easy to point finger and lay blame, but the Mental Health Institute does not have adequate resources, just a group of caring individuals who are operating with their hands behind their backs," Paolini said.
