Two women shot to death in apartment

Metro Police have no suspects in the murders of two women shot to death over the weekend in separate bedrooms of an apartment they shared.
The women have been identified as Christina Galvan, 19, and Tomicka Simpson, 21.
An unidentified male had been on the phone with one of the women about 2 a.m. Sunday when he heard what homicide Sgt. Bill Keeton described as a disturbance. Then the line went dead and he went to the apartment.
Instead of immediately calling police, the friend left the 3550 E. Lake Mead Blvd. apartment and drove about three-quarters of a mile away to the home of the mother of one of the women.
The two returned to the apartment, determined that the women were dead, and then called police, Keeton said. By then, about 20 minutes had elapsed and the trail was cold, Keeton said.
There were no witnesses and no one saw anyone running away, Keeton said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
The women's deaths were the second of two separate murder scenes homicide detectives were called out to shortly after midnight Sunday.
Kevin Caddell, 32, of Las Vegas was in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, accused of stabbing a man to death at the Star View Motel at 13th and Fremont streets.
The victim, whose name has been withheld, had been escorted off the property earlier in the evening and got into a fistfight with Caddell, a motel security guard, when he returned about 11 p.m. Saturday, Keeton said.
The guard's pit bull attacked the fighting men moments before Caddell pulled out a large hunting knife he carried for protection.
"Security advises (Caddell) was losing the fight to the (victim), and out of fear for his well being ... he stabbed the subject he was fighting," Keeton said.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of his family, collapsed after walking about 30 feet and died at University Medical Center just after midnight.
The case will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for review.
