Two women killed in apartment they shared

Metro Police were without a suspect in the murders of two women shot to death over the weekend in separate bedrooms of an apartment they shared.
An unidentified male had been on the phone with one of the women about 2 a.m. Sunday when he heard what homicide Sgt. Bill Keeton described only as a disturbance and then the line went dead.
A short time later, the friend notified police after going to the women's apartment at 3550 E. Lake Mead Blvd., and finding both dead from gunshot wounds.
An initial investigation turned up no eyewitnesses nor a suspect description, Keeton said. Police are hoping anyone with information on the murders will notify them at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
The women's deaths were the second of two separate murder scenes homicide detectives were called out to shortly after midnight.
Kevin Caddell, 32, of Las Vegas, remained in custody at Clark County Detention Center accused of stabbing a man to death at the Star View Motel, 13th and Fremont streets.
The victim, whose name has been withheld, had been escorted off the property earlier in the evening and got into a fist fight with Caddell, a motel security guard, when he returned about 11 p.m. Saturday, Keeton said.
The guard's pit bull attacked the fighting men moments before Caddell pulled out a large hunting knife he carried for protection.
"Security advises (Caddell) was losing the fight to the (victim), and out of fear for his well being for several reasons, he stabbed the subject he was fighting," Keeton said.
The victim collapsed after walking about 30 feet and died at University Medical Center just after midnight.
The names of the victims have been withheld until relatives can be notified.
