Thursday's completion of the project not only re-established the key link between Yerington and Douglas County through Smith Valley, it earned A&K Earth Movers of Fallon a hefty bonus as well.
The $725,867 contract executed with the Nevada Department of Transportation on Jan. 14 called for traffic to be moving by Feb. 15. It threw in an extra $5,000 for each day before the 15th the highway is open.
