Letter: Ordinary people need justice done to them
Friday, Feb. 7, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
In August 1980, my son was murdered -- seventeen years old, a good boy, an honor student, a son I was very proud of. This happened in Pennsylvania, a week before he was to begin college. He was missing for eight days. His body was found in the mountains. A proper investigation was never completed, even though the authorities had suspicions and I was positive who was responsible. The investigating officer did not even go to the scene of the crime. It was just swept under a bureaucratic rug and forgotten.
Perhaps, if I had been someone of importance, a celebrity, or had a lot of money, justice would have been done and my son would be able to rest in peace in his grave under the big oak tree in Williamsport, Pa.
