Anyone finding jewelry marked with the manufacturer's name "Levian" within the next few days is being warned that the pieces may very well be hot.
A jewelry courier from New York City told police that three bandits robbed him at gunpoint of several bags of the marked jewels while in the parking lot of the Fashion Show mall about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The robbers, described as Hispanic males between 19 and 25, fled west on Spring Mountain Road in a four-door olive-green BMW 3 series. The license plate is believed to bear the numbers 58, police said.
The courier told authorities he had come to town in hopes of selling the Levian line to local jewelry stores.
Police have not disclosed what pieces were taken, but ask that anyone with information on the incident call Metro's tourist safety unit at 229-3204.
