Downtown vice stings corral 32 more johns
Friday, Feb. 7, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
A total of 32 more people have landed on the Metro Police vice section's notorious list, accused of soliciting undercover officers for sex.
Results of the two-night reverse stings held downtown on Jan. 23 and Feb. 5 include another person cited for loitering for the purpose of soliciting, police said.
The arrestees include two construction workers, four cooks, a contractor, a lighting designer, an auto body repairman and two local juveniles, ages 16 and 17.
All arrested are eligible for "Order Out," meaning that if they avoid the downtown area from Main Street to Eastern Avenue they can receive a lighter sentence. Exceptions are made for those people who live, work or attend church in that area.
Five reverse prostitution stings have been conducted this year, resulting in 54 arrests and citations.
The names of people caught during the stings are available to the public at the Metro Plaza Desk and all substations.
