Letter: Public support is vital in all Scouting programs

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.

The Boulder Dam Area Council, BSA, serves all of Clark and Nye counties, the Colorado River communities from Laughlin to Parker and Mohave County, Ariz. More than 7,000 volunteers serve 286 Cub Scout packs, 255 Boy Scout Troops, 205 Explorer posts and 29 Learning for Life groups representing 24,682 youth. We'd like to tell the volunteers of the Boulder Dam Area Council how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication to the youth in our communities and our nation. Thank you for keeping the Scouting program strong and effective for 87 years.

You obviously understand the old adage, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." For more than87 years, good people like you have taken the time to use the Scouting program as a remedy for the social ills America's youth face. You have helped save them from the dangers of drugs, gang violence, teen pregnancy, vandalism, etc. Thanks to contributions from people like you, thousands of youngsters have gained personal values, self-confidence, leadership and life skills that are helping them grow into strong role models for the next generation.

Thank you for being a part of our dynamic team of volunteers who make a difference in the lives of America's youth and tomorrow's leaders.
