Letter: Local hero stays in focus

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.

As a full-time employee of Ritz Camera in the Boulevard Mall, Jerry has scheduled his volunteer jobs to coincide with his work schedule. He has donated his services at Angel Park Golf Course for the Nathan Adelson Hospice Golf Tournament. He has made hundreds of children smile and captured their moment with Santa Claus. He was overwhelmed by the outpouring of volunteers he photographed at the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas' "Boys Night Out." He has never said no to anyone who called him and never would. He has taken pictures for the American Cancer Society, the Bennett YMCA, the Anti-Defamation League, the Jean Nidetch Women's Center, the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, Boy Scouts of America, Christmas in April, Nevada School of the Arts, Nevada Opera Theater, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Southern Nevada Community Concert Association, WeCan, ASTD, Temple Beth Am, Temple Beth Sholom, Midbar Kodesh Temple and several local churches. When asked how long he can continue volunteering his services, he answers, "As long as they keep asking.

I thought it would be nice to share what he does and why he does it. I love him and believe he deserves recognition for his unselfish, untiring acts of kindness. He's my hero!
