Donald Leffingwell, 28, was pulled over on Christmas Eve in a deserted area north of Reno, Nevada.
He initially was detained on three outstanding contempt warrants from Reno Municipal Court and on felony warrant for grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
A computer check determined that he also is wanted in Mississippi for the murder of Tommy Norris Thompson, whose body was found in a rural ditch outside of Vaiden on Nov. 9. He had been shot five times.
Carroll County, Miss., Sheriff Don Gray said Leffingwell and the victim had known each other in Memphis, Tenn., and worked in the same Vaiden tattoo shop.
