Car hits water tanker; two injured
Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997 | 10:57 a.m.
A car skidded and ran into a Caterpillar water tanker this morning, trapping the driver and passenger under the front end of the rig, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Steve La-Sky said.
Two men were trapped inside a Honda sedan about 7:50 a.m. in the intersection of Highland Drive and Viking Road.
The rig was carrying a 5,000-gallon water tank, La-Sky said. Within minutes of arriving, a fire department heavy-equipment rescue crew removed the driver, who was reported to have a broken arm, fire officials said. At 8:15 the passenger was safely removed.
Both men were conscious and talking to their rescuers while they were being extricated, fire department officials said. Neither man appeared to be seriously injured.
The accident was caused when the Honda skidded on water on the street, La-Sky said.
