Cab company offers $10,000 reward

Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997 | 11:32 a.m.

North Las Vegas Cab Co. is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for murdering one of its cab drivers in West Las Vegas.

Billy Rex Traver, 57, had driven a fare from the 900 block of West Bartlett Avenue to the 1600 block of Cadillac Lane where he was shot in the right hip about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at University Medical Center.

A neighbor reported hearing the gunshot, but Metro Police remained today without a suspect.

"The murder appears to be a cold-blooded act without a known motive," homicide Lt. Wayne Peterson said.

Traver's death saddened and shocked employees and management, prompting the company to increase the $1,000 reward Secret Witness previously offered for suspect information.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the homicide section at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
