A 23-year-old armored car driver has been jailed in Henderson after being accused of attempting to embezzle cash.
Henderson Police took Raul Ernest Ramirez into custody after leaving the Armored Transport property Friday with a deposit bag he has been accused of intentionally hiding underneath a company vehicle.
Armored Transport contacted police for help Dec. 18 after one of its drivers came up short of cash and a deposit bag from Circuit City in Henderson was missing.
Another employee driving the same car the next day wound up finding the money when it fell from beneath the car's dashboard, said Detective Robert Wamsley.
Suspecting an inside job, police set up a surveillance which ended with Ramirez's arrest at the end of his shift. Wamsley said Ramirez finished his route driving a different truck, then walked over to the car where the stolen money had been hidden, removed the deposit bag, and took it to his vehicle where he hid it in the back seat.
