Fort Wayne Komets 4, Orlando Solar Bears 3

FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Guy Dupuis scored at 11:59 of the third period to give the Fort Wayne Komets (13-13-1) their third win in a row, 4-3 over the Orlando Solar Bears Friday at Memorial Coliseum. The loss denied the Solar Bears a share of first place in the IHL Northeast Division, and dropped them to 16-12-5. Konstantin Shafranov scored twice for the Komets, in the first period to tie the score at 1-1, and in the second to give Fort Wayne a 2-1 lead. Steffon Walby added a goal in the third period, 3:05 before Dupuis' game-winner. The Solar Bears, who are winless in their last three starts, scored once in each period. Bill Armstrong had the first goal of the game, Hubie McDonough converted on a power play in the second period, and Eric Nickulus pulled Orlando within a goal with 1:05 to play. Winning goalie Bruce Racine stopped 29 of Orlando's 32 shots. David Littman saved 32 for the Solar Bears, on 36 chances.

Michigan K-Wings 2, Milwaukee Admirals 0

MILWAUKEE--The Michigan K-Wings (13-10-6) used power play goals by Lee Jinman and Marty Flichel to shut out the Milwaukee Admirals (17-13-1) 2-0 Friday in front of 7,929 at the Bradley Center. K-Wings goalie Manny Fernandez made 37 saves to preserve the win. Jinman won the game just 2:08 after the opening faceoff. Flichel's insurance goal came at 11:09 of the third period. Milwaukee netminder Danny Lorenz faced 21 shots and made 19 saves in the losing effort.

San Antonio Dragons 4, Indianapolis Ice 3 (SO)

SAN ANTONIO--The San Antonio Dragons (11-17-3) capped a three-goal regulation rally with a two-of-three performance in the shootout to beat the Indianapolis Ice 4-3 Friday at Freeman Coliseum. Daniel Shank and Lonnie Loach scored for the Dragons in the tiebreaker, and goalie Pokey Reddick fended off four Indianapolis attempts. The Dragons trailed 3-0 when Micah Alvazoff scored his first goal of the season at 6:09 of the second period. Shank scored at 18:54 to make the score 3-2, and Dave Smith tied the score 3:55 into the third. Dave Hymovitz and Tim Ferguson scored in the first period for the Ice (12-17-2). Craig Mills, who had an assist on Ferguson's tally, added a goal in the second period. Reddick made 18 saves in regulation, on 21 Indianapolis shots. Jani Hurme weathered the Dragons' 46-shot attack, making 43 saves for Indianapolis.

Kansas City Blades 3, Houston Aeros 0

KANSAS CITY--The Kansas City Blades shattered the Houston Aeros' five-game winning streak with a 3-0 shutout victory Friday in front of 3,843 at Kemper Arena. Jason Cirone's winning goal came at 1:06 of the second period. Brent Bilodeau and Reggie Savage scored in the third. Mike Craig and Iain Fraser picked up two assists apiece. Jeff Salajko faced and stopped 25 shots to post the win. Houston's Frederic Chabot stopped 33 of 36 in his first IHL start since being assigned to Houston by the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.

bf Chicago Wolves 6, Manitoba Moose 5 (SO)

WINNIPEG--Doug Barrault, Steve Maltais, Ravil Gusmanov and Chris Marinucci scored in the shootout to give the Chicago Wolves (23-7-2) a 6-5 win over the Manitoba Moose (11-17-3) Friday before 6,704 at Winnipeg Arena. Scott Pearson scored twice in the opening period to pace the Wolves, who lead Milwaukee by 12 points at the top of the IHL Midwest Division. Kevin Dahl added a goal in the second frame, and Alexander Godynyuk and Steve Maltais scored in the third to tie the score at 4-4. Manitoba's Ralph Intranuovo also had a pair of goals. Scott Arneil, Jason Christie and Jimmy Roy rounded out the Moose scoring in regulation. Intranuovo, Dale DeGray and Michael Stewart converted in the tiebreaker. Goalie Fred Brathwaite faced a team-record 54 shots for the Moose, and recorded a franchise-high 49 saves. Wendell Young picked up the win in goal, with 17 saves on Manitoba's 22 shots.
