QUEBEC CITY--Shootout goals by Mark Greig, Danton Cole and Travis Richards gave the Grand Rapids Griffins (19-9-1) a 3-2 win over the Quebec Rafales (13-17-3) Tuesday before 8,344 at Le Colisee. Greig and Kerry Huffman scored in regulation for the Griffins, who took sole possession of first place in the IHL Northeast Division with the win. Both goals came in the second period. The Rafales, who are fourth in the Northeast and now trail the Griffins by 10 points, led in the first period on Dennis Maxwell's power play goal at 15:04. Claude Boivin scored in the final minute of the second period to tie the score 2-2. Ian Gordon picked up his league-leading 12th win in goal, with 24 saves on 26 Quebec shots, and allowed only one shootout goal, by Kimbi Daniels. Tom Draper stopped 22 of 24 in regulation for the Rafales.
Milwaukee Admirals 4, Cincinnati Cyclones 3 (SO)
MILWAUKEE--The Milwaukee Admirals (17-11-1) allowed two goals in the final minute of regulation, but held on for a 4-3 shootout win over the Cincinnati Cyclones (13-10-6) Tuesday at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee scored three times in the five-round tiebreaker to take the win. Cincinnati's Don Biggs, who also scored in the shootout, broke a scoreless tie with a power play goal at 5:56 of the second period. Don McSween equalized for the Admirals at 17:06, and Brent Peterson and Jason Cipolla gave Milwaukee a two-goal lead early in the third frame. Cipolla also finished with an assist and a shootout goal. Mike Casselman ignited the Cyclones' late spurt, scoring on a power play at 19:16, and helping set up Gilbert Dionne's game-tying score 18 seconds later. Milwaukee goalie Danny Lorenz faced only 18 shots in regulation, and made 15 saves. Cincinnati's Todd MacDonald turned away 26 of 29.
