Gaels put Canadiens in deep freeze

Bishop Gorman proved to be an inhospitable host to its Canadian visitors, using 23 points from Dinard Taylor in a 90-28 whipping of Carihi.
The Gaels led 50-13 at the half Wednesday night behind Taylor, who hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter. Angelo Fernandez added 18 points for Gorman and Travis Grove chipped in 16.
Mitch Kallick and Cornell Williams combined for 38 points as Green Valley downed Vo-Tech 74-59. Cory Belk paced the Vo-Tech attack with 19 points and Maurice Washington added 10.
Valley bombed Chaparral 69-45 as Alex Hernandez scored 25 points. Dion Jackson added 12 points for the Vikings. Richard Seigler led the Cowboys with 10 points.
Kevin Crockron scored 21 points, Reggie Johnson 16 and Jamar Jordan 10 as Rancho got all over Basic 81-45. Jamal Norris led the Wolves with 10 points.
Andy Saggiomio scored 18 points to help Silverado by Eldorado 64-54. Haven Tillmon paced Eldorado with 15 points.
Girls' Basketball
Basic remained undefeated by beating Rancho 33-12. Robin Werner paced the Wolves with 10 points.
Jayme Conners scored 24 points and Amber Fife 16 as Silverado beat Eldorado 72-42. Kristi Shaw led Eldorado with 10 points.
Green Valley jumped out to a 35-8 lead en route to a 95-33 victory over Vo-Tech. Christina Ozuna and Lupe Trejo led the Gators with 14 points each, while teammate Jenna Hortizuela added 13.
Krystal Turner (17) and Stephanie Tyma (14) combined for 31 points as Chaparral defeated Valley 71-32. Zerina Pollard led Valley with 11 points.
Wrestling
Cimarron-Memorial remained perfect, routing Bonanza 54-13. Cimarron led 28-7 at one point. Frank Mir picked up a pin for the Bengals at 275.
Tidbits
Palo Verde will host a benefit basketball game tonight against the teachers from Bryan Elementary. The tournament will benefit Child Haven.
Admission is $2 or an unwrapped toy or gift for the event. All proceeds will go to the charity.
