Pahrump looks at going into gravel business
Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 | 9:21 a.m.
Town Board member Gary Hollis would like to take over the pit from the federal Bureau of Land Management in what he said would be a win-win situation for Pahrump.
He said it would produce gravel at a more reasonable price for area businesses that now are paying close to Las Vegas prices. And he said the sales would generate revenue that could be used to pay for the fairgrounds project.
He made his pitch to representatives of the Senate Appropriations Committee and U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., who promised to convey the suggestion to Reid, the Pahrump Valley Times reported.
