Orlando Solar Bears 4, Cincinnati Cyclones 3
CINCINNATI--Two goals by Scott Hollis capped a four-goal rally that pushed the Orlando Solar Bears (13-8-4) past the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-3 Wednesday at Gund Arena. The win moves Orlando ahead of Detroit and into second place in the IHL Northeast Division. Hollis scored with 1:01 left in the second period to put the Solar Bears ahead 3-2, and netted the game-winner at 3:09 of the third. Mark Beaufait assisted on both goals, giving him 25 in 25 games. The Solar Bears trailed 2-0 at the end of one period. Second period goals by Ben Hankinson and Grigori Panteleyev knotted the score. Mike Casselman scored twice for Cincinnati (11-9-3). Todd Hawkins put the Cyclones on the board, with assists from Jeff Wells and Gilbert Dionne, who has set up at least one goal in each of his last six games. Winning goalie Scott LaGrand faced 26 shots and made 23 saves. Geoff Sarjeant stopped 27 of 31 for Cincinnati.
Michigan K-Wings 4, Houston Aeros 3
HOUSTON--Juha Lind's unassisted goal at 15:50 of the third period gave the Michigan K-Wings (10-6-6) a 4-3 win over the Houston Aeros (14-9-2) Wednesday in front of 6,042 at the Compaq Center. The K-Wings, who have won their last three, move into second place in the IHL Central Division, past the slumping Cincinnati Cyclones. Brad Lukowich, Tony Hrkac and Peter Douris each had a goal and an assist in the second period for the K-Wings. The Aeros took a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. Brent Hughes scored first, at 2:48. Mike Maurice, who assisted on Hughes' goal, netted the Aeros' second at 3:55. Greg Hawgood capped the Houston scoring, in the second period. The K-Wings were outshot 27-20. Jordan Willis made 24 saves to post the win. Houston's Ryan Bach, the IHL Goaltender of the Month for November, stopped 16.
Chicago Wolves 5, Quebec Rafales 3
ROSEMONT, Ill.--The Chicago Wolves (17-5-2) scored five goals on the way to their fifth straight win, 5-3 over the Quebec Rafales (11-14-2) Wednesday before 5,222 at the Rosemont Horizon. Chicago's Doug Barrault scored the only goal of the first period. Scott Pearson and Tim Breslin scored in the second, Pearson on a power play and Breslin when Quebec had the extra man. Steve Maltais won the game at 8:52 of the third period, and picked up his second assist on Alexander Semak's insurance goal. Dennis Maxwell scored in the second and third periods for the Rafales, who have lost seven of eight games on their extended road swing. Francois Sasseville, who assisted on Maxwell's first tally, added a goal of his own 7:10 into the third. Wolves netminder Wendell Young turned away 28 of Quebec's 31 shots. Tom Draper stopped 23 of 28 for the Rafales.
Long Beach Ice Dogs 4, Kansas City Blades 1
KANSAS CITY--The Long Beach Ice Dogs (17-9-2) snapped a three-game slump Wednesday with a 4-1 win over the Kansas City Blades (10-12-3). The game drew 3,287 to Kemper Arena. Team scoring leader Andrei Vasilyev led the way for Long Beach with a goal and an assist, both in the second period. Dan Lambert and Mark Ferner added third-period tallies, both unassisted. Dean Sylvester spoiled the Ice Dogs' shutout 1:26 into the third period. J.F. Quintin had the assist. Long Beach goalie Kay Whitmore turned in a strong 34-save performance to post the win. Kansas City's Jon Casey stopped 28 of 31.
bf Utah Grizzlies 3, Milwaukee Admirals 0
WEST VALLEY CITY, Ut.--Rookie goaltender Lee Schill posted a shutout in his first IHL start as the Utah Grizzlies (15-6-4) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (14-9-1) 3-0 Wednesday. A crowd of 7,039 was on hand at the "E" Center as the Grizzlies won their second straight. Schill, called up from the West Coast Hockey League's Reno Rage, made 24 saves, ten of them in the first period, to take the win. All three Utah goals came in the third period. Jeff Sharples started things off just 21 seconds in, then assisted on a power play goal by center Chris Taylor at 2:21. John LeBlanc capped the win at 10:17. Taylor and Gord Dineen both finished with a pair of assists. Milwaukee goalie Mike Torchia made 29 saves on 32 chances.
