Dad jailed after argument at school
Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 | 9:17 a.m.
Edward Lord, 45, was wrestled to the floor and arrested by campus police Wednesday afternoon.
After posting bail, Lord said he would bring his son, Luke, back to the school today despite district policy that says he should attend Hug High because of where he lives.
"I'll go to jail every day for my children if I have to," he said.
School officials said the fracas ensued when Lord became belligerent and obscene during a meeting with Reno High administrators, who told him his son would have to attend Hug.
For the past year, Lord has tried to enroll his son, who is an A student, at McQueen High, claiming it offered a safer environment and better academics.
When that failed, he used his business address to enroll Luke at Reno High.
The youth's mother, Anna Lord, said the family tried to buy two homes in the Reno High area, but neither deal has been finalized.
