The Clark County Department of Aviation will begin a holiday celebration at McCarran International Airport with its annual tree lighting ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday.
The ceremony will take place in the Main Terminal, on Level 2, West Esplanade, near the information booth. Remarks will be made by Clark County officials who will light the tree.
The Clark High School Choir, under the direction of Carol Sapko, will provide holiday music. Sandy Heverly from Stop DUI will be on hand to pass out red ribbons, reminding people of the dangers of drinking and driving.
The event kicks off two weeks of holiday entertainment at McCarran. Numerous musical groups from Clark County will perform Monday through Friday, Dec. 5-19, with about 45 performances.
"This is the 10th annual tree lighting ceremony we have had here at McCarran," said Randy Walker, director of the aviation department. "Our passengers always enjoy being welcomed and entertained by these performers. We invite everyone in Clark County to come and see the outstanding talent of the many groups performing in the traditional holiday spirit."
