Letter: Metro Police should protest jailing of three former officers
Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997 | 2:09 a.m.
These men were dealing with a repeat offender who has since committed several other crimes and resides in the same jail as these men. Judge Gates, Sheriff Jerry Keller and anyone else connected with letting this miscarriage of justice continue are just as responsible for Andrew Dersch's crime spree as this professional criminal. This tyranny should have no room in our democracy. Judge Gates has completely ignored the recommendation of the majority. Checks and balances. Is this legal and should it be legal?
How could anyone want to be a police officer after this case based on politics. I think all of the Metro Police officers should stand up and show that they are not going to take it anymore. They should stage a walkout to prove their point; maybe people would listen. They risk their lives every second to protect us from degenerates like Andrew Dersch and in a matter of minutes, escalating to years, they could lose everything.
I sincerely hope someone stands up and ends this travesty, now. Release these three victims and put a stop to the Big Boy Games.
