The Written Workplace Safety Program class discusses the Nevada requirements for a written workplace safety program and activities under each major category within the requirements. Categories are responsibilities, hazard identification, communication, training, accident investigation, enforcement and safety committees.
The class meets 9-11 a.m. Thursday.
The Fall Protection Regulatory Review class reviews the construction regulations in 29 CFR 1926, subpart M. It examines conventional fall protection such as guardrail systems, safety net systems and personal fall arrest systems.
The class meets 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Industrial Accident Investigation class focuses on aspects of industrial accidents and the importance of investigative techniques including legal aspects, victim/witness interviews, documentation, preservation of physical evidence and applied practical skill development. The class size is limited to 20 participants and prior registration is required. Call 486-5016 for registration and class location.
The class meets 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 9.
The Scaffold Regulatory Review class reviews construction scaffold regulations and new standard format. Emphasis is on supported scaffolds with some specifics on suspended scaffold charges. Class ends with discussion of training requirements.
The class meets 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 16.
ACCOUNTING WORKSHOP -- The Nevada State Board of Accountancy will hold a workshop to consider amending its Nevada Administrative Code regulation 628.120 to increase the fees charged for the initial examination for a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant and for re-examination for a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant. The public workshop will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Room B, fifth floor, McCarran Airport.
It is proposed that the initial examination fee be increased from $150 to an amount not to exceed $250; and the re-examination fee increased from $60 to an amount not to exceed $100.
Written and oral testimony will be accepted at the workshop.
MARKETING LUNCHEON -- The Las Vegas chapter of the American Marketing Association's monthly luncheon meeting will take place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Palace Station.
Rick Gardner and Bernadette Cognac of International Demographics Inc. will speak on developing media strategies to reach specific market segments.

COMMODITIES SEMINAR -- Kathy S. Michael, president of the International Women's Futures Association, will conduct a commodity training seminar for beginners 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the South Tower at the Golden Nugget.
The seminar will focus on the increased interest in commodities as an in-home business and why nearly 90 percent of people trading commodities lose. The seminar will also review trading guidelines, types of orders and how to place them and an in-depth paper-trading session where trades will be tracked and analyzed.
