Experienced Las Vegas parachutist dies in jump from Tucson radio tower
Monday, Dec. 1, 1997 | 9:31 a.m.
The Pima County sheriff's office said the 35-year-old victim had 500 recorded jumps and was considered a master jumper by the U.S. Parachuting Association.
But Northwest Side Fire District Battalion Chief Matt Shobert said the 35-year-old man was wearing the wrong type of chute for a low-level jump.
His body was found Sunday morning and authorities believe the man had jumped from the tower late Saturday night.
His chute was only partially opened.
The name of the victim was not immediately released. He reportedly was in the area to attend a three-day skydiving instructor certification program in Marana.
