Letter: McDonald did keep his promise on what to do with salary

It would be nice if he had his facts straight. Please allow me to correct him.
Lance Malone resigned from Metro to spend more time as a county commissioner. At that time, someone suggested Michael McDonald should also resign from Metro to devote full time to his position as city council man, a part-time job.
He replied that his salary as a police officer was greater than the one as councilman. He needed this larger salary, because he lives with his parents and supports the household.
At no time did he say he would also keep his $25,000 annual salary as a councilman. Indeed, he could not, for that would be illegal.
To my knowledge, he has kept his promise to donate this salary to senior citizens' organizations. If you have doubts, all you have to do is contact Michael McDonald. I'm sure he would be happy to give you a list of these organizations.
Better yet, let's hear from some of the seniors who have benefited from his generosity.
