Letter: If you don’t like smoke, build ‘Biosphere’ in desert

Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997 | 3:29 a.m.

Oxygen, in fact, only constitutes one-fifth of the Earth's entire atmosphere.

There are many other contaminants that reach the ozone layer which are far more toxic than tobacco smoke will ever be. Perhaps she could point her fury toward these also.

In calling Victoria Shaw ignorant in her response, I suggest she herself shows a lot of this trait herself.

I think that to be in the quality of surroundings that she desires, she, her mother and anyone else she can rally who has the same views on the subject, go into the far desert and construct a habitat similar to the biosphere that was built somewhere near Tucson, Ariz., a few years back.

Here, they can live in an atmosphere free of all the contamination of the Earth's air and live happily ever after.
