Agency officials also said the fish deaths Wednesday were not related to perchlorate or other chemicals or toxins in Lake Mead.
The trout loss was less than 3 percent of the 560,000 rainbow trout that are in the hatchery, said John McKay, hatchery manager.
The fish died after water at the hatchery was treated Tuesday afternoon with potassium permanganate, a chemical used to combat a fish disease.
