The North Las Vegas City Council has ratified the appointment of Joey Tillmon, a 17-year veteran of the force, as chief of police.
The council on Wednesday approved the appointment of Tillmon, 44, who served the department as a patrolman, narcotics officer, training officer, in the police academy, and as a SWAT team member.
Tillmon replaces Alan Nelson who retired in April, two days after being arrested for drunken driving. Jose Troncoso was serving as interim chief.
