Man who was mistakenly released now charged with murder

Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997 | 10:09 a.m.

Police say Doyle Swarm, 32, has been charged with murder in addition to charges of robbery, burglary and evading a police officer.

Swarm was arrested early Saturday after three armed men robbed Doc Holliday's Saloon.

The three fled in a vehicle. A short time later officers saw a car matching the description of the suspects' car and a high speed chase ensued.

The chase ended when the car exited U.S. 95 and crashed into a light pole.

The driver, Jack George, 46, and a passenger, Donald Miller, 34, were killed.

Police Capt. Charles Davidaitis said the murder warrants were based on detectives' belief that Swarm was "involved in a felonious act that resulted in death."

Swarm suffered minor injuries in the crash. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, then released because police had not presented paperwork supporting the arrest.
