UNLV choral singers needed

Six choirs offer a variety of musical experiences, and participation is open to all university students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the community. Auditions for the advanced ensembles (University Singers, Chamber Chorale, Jazz Choir) will be begin Monday. To schedule a 15-minute audition, call 895-3008.
The University Singers, a concert choir of 50 singers, rehearses 1:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Monday-Friday beginning Aug. 25, in preparation for concert, festival and tour appearances. The choir recently performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra at the MGM Grand and in New York's Carnegie Hall.
The Chamber Chorale, a 20-singer ensemble, rehearses on Tuesday evenings, beginning Aug. 26.
The Jazz Choir, a group of 12-16 signers, performs jazz styles from swing to blues to Latin jazz and close-harmony ballads. Rehearsals are 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Fridays, beginning Aug. 27.
Three additional choirs are open to all interested singers with no audition or prior experience necessary. The University Chorus, an all-campus mixed choir, meets 12:30-1:20 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning Aug. 25. The Varsity Men's Glee Club and Women's Chorus rehearse 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Aug. 28. Membership is open to community members of any age, including university and high school students, retired people, barbershop singers, church choristers and Clark County School District personnel.
All of the UNLV choirs are offered for university credit. In addition, the Chamber Chorale, University Chorus, Varsity Men's Glee Club and Women's Chorus are offered for non-credit through the Division of Continuing Education at a reduced fee.
