Railroad worker killed
Friday, Aug. 15, 1997 | 11:40 a.m.
Elko police said Union Pacific workers went looking for James Jones around 3 a.m. when they could not reach him on a two-way radio.
Jones, 54, worked as a switcher. His body was found pinned between the couplers of two railroad cars.
Authorities believe he may have been trying to straighten one of the couplers when he was struck from behind by another railroad car.
The accident remained under investigation.
