SUN STAFF REPORT
Larry McKay is the new athletic director of the Clark County School District.
McKay, creator of the Reebok Holiday Prep Classic and the Adidas Big Time high school basketball tournaments, said he sees no big changes in school athletic programs for the immediate future.
"Not until I see what needs to be done," McKay said.
McKay, appointed Thursday by the School Board, replaces Dick Paulin, who retired.
"My philosophy is going to be one of service, making it easier for schools to do their jobs," McKay said.
McKay has worked in the school district for 24 years. He began his career as a teacher and later served as an assistant principal in charge of athletics at Rancho High and Valley High. He spent the past four years in the same capacity at Durango High.
His salary will be $80,600.
