Changes run up school charges

The cost of school construction and renovation has gone up again.
The School Board Thursday approved spending nearly $270,000 above original contracted costs at seven elementary, middle and high schools.
Known as change orders, the approved increases are:
Change orders for work at Allen total $878,906.35 for a net increase of 13.66 percent to the original contract of $6,432,489.
Total change orders at Guy amount to $190,703.05 for a net increase of 3.28 percent to the original contract of $5,813,216.
Change orders at Keller total $698,033.74 for a net increase of 4.33 percent to the original contract of $16,106,565.
Total change orders at Miller amount to $111,038 for a net increase of 7.8 percent to the original contract of $1,418,722.
Change orders at Sawyer total $578,742.13 for an 11.75 percent increase to the original contract of $4,927,000.
Total change orders at Wolfe amount to $611,104 for a net increase of 10 percent to the original contract of $6,108,000.
This represents a 22.17 percent increase to the original contract of $193,192.
