UNLV to get smaller parking garage

Harter says the garage will probably be built between the Thomas & Mack Center and the new Lied Library, which is scheduled to open just northeast of the arena in early 2000. The garage would be near the university's classroom complex.

Students began paying $30 a year for on-campus parking in the fall of 1995, and were told the money was needed to help build a 1,200-space parking garage. However, the money has been used to make $760,000 in payments on construction bonds for fraterity houses near the campus.
