Flames sparked by lightning that burned about 1,000 acres of Mount Potosi are under control, the U.S. Forest Service said.
The fire, which started about 6 p.m. Friday at the mountain on the southwest edge of the Las Vegas Valley, was brought under control by Monday. Crews from the Forest Service, the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management stayed on the mountain through Monday to douse hot spots.
