New Tahoe ferry offers alternative to driving

Hornblower Cruises, the new operators of the Tahoe Queen tour boat, is using a 49-passenger party boat to shuttle people back and forth between the two points.
Hornblower spokeswoman Kelly Krolicki said the ferry will be integrated with existing trolley service, for a $7 one-way or $9 round-trip charge.
The idea is to allow tourists on Tahoe's south shore to ride the trolley, take a boat ride on the lake and see Camp Richardson without relying on their cars.
"If this ferry-trolley service is a success in one month, it will be a clear indicator that there is a demand for waterborne transportation on the lake," said Hornblower Cruises Lake Tahoe general manager Roger Murphy..
