Southern Nevadans Matt Sutton and Ramzy Ladah took the next step at the Junior National Swimming Championships in Clovis, Calif., last week. The two are members of the Las Vegas Sandpipers swim club and potential Olympians. Sutton, a Green Valley High alum, qualified for the winter and summer senior national meet with his seventh-place time of 52.26 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle. He finished only .16 behind the qualifying time in the 200-meter free with a nine-place finish at 1 minute, 54.45 seconds. Ladah, soon to be a senior Bishop Gorman, was selected to participate in the Olympic training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., after finishing 14th in both the 100- and 200-meter breaststrokes with times of 1:07.10 and 2:24.82, respectively. Ladah was seeded 45th in the 100 breast and 40th in the 200 breast.
