Property tax revenues are projected to increase from $136,000 to $152,573 with the hike, according to City Manager Mike Cosgrove. The city estimated the assessed value of its taxable property at $16 million, up from $15.8 million.
The increase would boost the annual city tax bill of the owner of property valued at $100,000 from $301.17 to $333.48, the Elko Daily Free Press reported. City spending will total $2,043,060.
"We're getting a lot of activity now, new homes and so on," Cosgrove said. "What we're trying to do now is come up with enough funding to do our streets."
