Two shot in incident at city park
Monday, April 21, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Police were called to the City View Park at 7:16 p.m. Arriving officers found 36-year-old Juan Lopez had been shot in the head.
As police arrived, they encountered 100 to 150 people rushing out of the park.
Witnesses said two black men, both about 19 and wearing dark clothing, began firing handguns into the crowd.
Lopez was taken to University Medical Center, where he was reported in serious but stable condition Monday.
A second victim, a 17-year-old North Las Vegas resident, was treated for a gunshot wound to the jaw.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 633-9111 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
