Runaway crashes car

Joshua C. Shifflett was heading south on U.S. 93 when the vehicle drifted off the side of the road about 12 miles south of Wells.

Authorities said the young driver overcorrected, sending the Lincoln into a spin before it overturned and struck a fence.

Shifflett was taken to Elko General Hospital where he was treated and released to juvenile detention.

An investigation showed the car was stolen from a neighbor of Shifflett's in Boise. Authorities said the boy intended to drive to California to stay with his mother.
