Longtime LV woodwork artist LaBounty dies at 48

Funeral services for woodwork artist and master designer John C. LaBounty of Las Vegas were held Saturday.
The services took place at Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. After cremation, he was buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
LaBounty, 48, died Tuesday in Denver after suffering lung disease.
Born Sept. 9, 1948, in Minneapolis, LaBounty graduated from UNLV in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in art. He designed and made doors at McCarran International Airport and for the home of tennis superstar Andre Agassi.
A 39-year Las Vegas resident, LaBounty was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, serving two tours of duty in Southeast Asia.
LaBounty was on the board of directors of the UNLV Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife, Marcela; a daughter Daniela, 8; a son Julian, 11; his mother Audrey, all of Las Vegas; and brother James LaBounty of Denver.
The family requests donations to the American Lung Association, 4100 Boulder Highway, Las Vegas, NV 89121, and anecdotal cards for the children.
