Samantha Storm was taken from her Henderson home to a local hospital on Thursday with a severe skull fracture. The injuries were non-accidental in nature, police said.
An initial investigation by the Henderson Police Department found that the injuries the girl suffered may have been at the hands of the child's mother's boyfriend, an airman at Nellis.
The possibility that the injuries may have occurred on base property is being investigated.
The girl's death on Friday was ruled a homicide. An autopsy determined she died from a fractured skull.
The airman, whose name was not released, is currently in pre-trial confinement in the custody of the Air Force.
