Tribute to honor legendary singer

Friday, April 11, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.

"The Hit Musical Sensation," direct from New York City, is performed by international singers Thomas Chambers, tenor, and Sheila Wormer, soprano. They will sing more than 30 of Lanza's classical hits and popular songs in their two-act show, including premier selections written for, but never performed by, Lanza.

Backed by a musical ensemble, the performance is fully staged, costumed and orchestrated, reliving the famed singer's life.

Added to the evening's festivities will be a special guest appearance by Damon Lanza, son of Mario Lanza. He will make a pre-show presentation, sharing personal stories and displaying rare items from the family archives.

He was instrumental in popularizing classical music (Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras, etc.) His rendition of popular songs in these movies made him a matinee idol and one of the top crossover artists of all time.

Tickets are $15. Reservations may be made through the Cultural Arts Society, 451-9672.
