Photo contest offers $1,000

Packing a camera on a visit to the Desert Demonstration Gardens may win a Las Vegas amateur photographer $1,000 in the American Home & Botanical Garden Association Photo Contest.

The photo contest, sponsored by the nonprofit professional AABGA, is in cooperation with CPI Photo and Fox Photo.

"The Desert Demonstration Gardens is a perfect venue for anyone wishing to enter the garden photo contest because of the wide variety of colorful plant species," said David Riggleman, Las Vegas Valley Water District conservation manager.

The Desert Demonstration Gardens, operated by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, are located at 3701 Alta Drive, just east of Valley View Boulevard.

Additional prizes include $500 for second place and $100 for third. Five honorable mentions will receive a free camera. Each entry must be different and a 5x7 or 8x10 color photo.

Official entry forms are available in CPI Photo/Fox Photo stores or the Desert Demonstration Gardens.
