‘Artwalk’ tour in Vegas on May 10
Friday, April 11, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
See a Michelangelo-inspired ceiling painting, 20th-century style. Get all fired up as fused and stained-glass art pieces take shape. Laguna Beach artist Ruth Mayer, who received a key to the city for her painting "Las Vegas," will create a new oil. And, at The Art of the Frame, you'll learn the secrets of frame-design techniques.
Have you ever wondered how someone could create art with a spray can, a Frisbee and paper towel? World-renowned artist Jean Francois will show you. You'll also have the opportunity to meet noted Western artist Hermon Adams as he unveils his newest limited-edition print. And enjoy an original Thomas Kinkade painting -- on exhibit for one day only.
Host galleries for the tour include Art Affair, Art Encounter, Carrara Galleries, Eternal Treasures, Glass Artistry, Moonstruck Gallery and Regal Art Gallery.
Proceeds from "Artwalk '97" will benefit the new Las Vegas Art Museum, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. at the Sahara West Library.
Those completing the entire tour will be eligible for prize drawings at the end of the day. The grand prize will be a trip for two to the "Pageant of the Masters" in Laguna Beach, Calif., courtesy of Terry Wilsey, A-Answer on Travel Agency.
Tickets for "Artwalk '97" are $25 and include a tour of the seven host galleries, special exhibits and demonstrations and refreshments. Guests will have the option of taking a driving tour or an "Artwalk" bus.
For tickets or information, call Art Affair, 368-7888.
