Weston’s art, puppets set for exhibition
Monday, April 7, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
The exhibition will feature Weston's paintings, mostly in a pointillist style, including landscapes, seascapes, nocturnes, copies after old masters, as well as a portrait of Edgar Bergen and his puppet Charlie McCarthy and a mosaic-style self-portrait of the artist with his main puppet characters, Aunt Martha and Clarence.
In addition to Weston's paintings, all his own hand-crafted puppet creations will appear together for the first time in the exhibition: Horatio Bear, Senator Hawkeye, Ma and Pa McGrew, and, of course, Aunt Martha and Clarence, who starred on the Strip from the late 1950s through the early 1980s.
The Las Vegas Art Museum is at 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
