A Bullhead City, Ariz., man was killed in a head-on collision near Searchlight.
Three others were injured in the 7 p.m. Sunday accident, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Harney said.
James Richard Kelly, 42, of Tucson, Ariz., was headed south in a 1995 Mercury on U.S. 95 nine miles north of Searchlight when he attempted to pass a car in a no-passing zone, Harney said.
Kelly's car hit a 1994 Pontiac head on, instantly killing its driver, Charles Edward Holcomb, 47. The two cars hit with an impact of 130 mph, Harney said.
Kelly and his passenger, Sherry Marie Kidwell, 49, of Tucson, were taken by a Flight for Life helicopter to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where they were in critical condition today.
Valerie Holcomb, 43, the deceased's wife, was sitting in the passenger seat of the Pontiac and suffered serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to UMC.
No charges have been filed because James Kelly was in critical condition, Harney said.
